At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, the Moline Fire Department was dispatched to 1204 17th Street, Moline for a fire in a two story residence. The fire was reported by the residents of the home as well as surrounding neighbors.
The seven residents at home when the fire broke out were able to escape after being alerted by the smoke detectors. Two of the residents were transported to the hospital by Fire Department ambulance for smoke inhalation.
The first fire unit on the scene found the home heavily involved with fire which was threatening the nearby structures. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes which resulted in very little damage to the adjacent structures and was extinguished after about one hour. The house and its contents were a total loss. The cause and origin of the fire is undetermined. The American Red Cross was contacted and provided assistance to the residents.
The Moline Fire Department was assisted by the Moline Police Department, the Rock Island Fire Department and the Moline Second Alarmers.
