Mayor Welvaert appoints Dick Brown as 4th Ward Alderman to fill the unexpired term of Ted Ronk who resigned in January in order to retire and relocate. Alderman Brown has lived in the Illinois Quad Cities since 1970 and is currently a Lieutenant for the Moline Fire Department where he has been a member since 1987.
"Dick Brown is enthusiastic, committed and involved in this community," said Mayor Welvaert. "As he is the sole candidate for the 4th Ward in the upcoming April Election, it was a natural decision to appoint him just a few months early. The residents of Moline will be well represented with Alderman Brown on the City Council."
Alderman Brown supports strong public safety, efficient municipal services, and community health and wellness. Alderman Brown says "I feel strongly about public service and am looking forward to becoming more involved and working with our committed staff members."
