Leaf collection options

Leaf Vac - 5

Beginning October 18, Moline’s annual leaf vacuuming program will begin. The program will run through Dec. 10, weather permitting.

Here is a leaf collection map to help you determine when crews will be in your neighborhood. Work will begin on the south side of the city and progress north through three designated areas, with crews picking up where they left off the previous day. You can also call the Leaf Collection Hotline at (309) 524-2407 for a pre-recorded message on where crews will be working each day.

Other guidelines for leaf vacuuming include:

  • Please rake leaves next to, but not in the street or road.
  • Rocks, sticks and other debris should not be placed in leaf piles.
  • Please refrain from parking vehicles in front of leaf piles.

For those who rake and bag instead, yard waste stickers are NOT required from Oct. 11 through Dec. 10. Leaves and grass must be placed in paper, biodegradable bags of 30 gallons or less capacity. Yard waste pickup will be on your regularly scheduled garbage collection days.

Finally, some residents may wish to participate in the city’s Yard Waste Cart Program. For a one-time payment of $78.96 and an annual $100 disposal fee, the city will provide a yard cart equivalent to three-yard waste bags that can be placed for pickup during garbage pickup.
