I was born in Rock Island and moved to East Moline at the age of 2 to the house my 92 year old mother still resides . I moved to Moline in 1999 and later purchased my home in First Ward (2003). I was elected to City Council April 2023 and my term will end May of 2027.
Alderwoman Murphy believes in being a " good neighbor "and Moline citizens looking out for each other and being kind to the people around you. She also believes it is the responsibility of each homeowner and renter to enhance and Keep Moline Beautiful by keeping their property properly maintained.
She is an advocate and supporter of the City of Moline offering multicultural diversity opportunities in employment and attracting new businesses. She believes Moline needs to attract the best talent and entrepreneurs available for our growing city.
She supports fiscal responsibility and looking for opportunities to provide services that will benefit and reduce costs to the citizens of Moline.
Alderwoman Murphy has previously served on the Moline Human Rights Commission, Florence Aldridge Early Learning Center Board of Directors in East Moline, Western IL University Mentoring program with Rock Island High School and The City of Davenport EEOC Media Roundtable. During her employment with John Deere, she was involved in several United Way initiatives.
Alderwoman Murphy is a proud graduate of United Township High School. She later returned to school attending Black Hawk College as an adult and transferred to the Western IL University Board of Trustees Bachelors of Arts program graduating in 2005. She graduated from the University of Phoenix-MBA program in 2009. She did all this while working fulltime at John Deere holding various positions in Supply Chain Management and retiring in 2018 as a Global Service Parts Forecasting Analyst.
Family and free time
Alderwoman Murphy is a Furbaby Mom to three spoiled schnauzer's Amari, Amani and Jaxxon. They are the love of her life. She believes in God and family first. She has responsibilities that include her mom and brother currently.
Alderwoman Murphy loves her outdoor flower gardens, reading, relaxing while watching her backyard birds and chatting with her neighbors. She also enjoys beach and mountain vacations when time permits.
