The City of
Moline has initiated a $3.9 million project to replace
and upgrade the water meters installed in the homes and
businesses throughout the city. The meter replacement
work will begin on April 7th in the eastern part of the
city, and progress in a systematic manner over a
six-month period. The completed project will greatly
improve the efficiency and accuracy of water meter
reading operations. The new water meters feature
integrated radios and digital registers which will
provide enhanced information regarding water use and
potential leaks.
City personnel will be replacing the water meters, but
the City has hired Northern Water Works to manage the
meter replacement scheduling. At an appropriate time,
each water customer will receive a letter requesting
that they schedule the meter replacement for their
property. The following bullet points provide specific
scheduling information for residents:
• The City will need to gain access to the water meter
inside the customer’s home or business, to replace the
old meter with the new meter.
• The installation process typically requires 20
minutes, and there is no cost to the customer for this
meter change-out.
• Customers must contact Northern Water Works to
schedule meter installation appointments.
• Customers may call Northern Water Works at
1-888-497-4171 to schedule their appointment.
• Customers may also schedule their appointment on-line
at
www.nwwsonline.com
• Evening and weekend appointments are available upon
request.
• Appointments must be scheduled within two weeks of
receiving the scheduling request letter.
• Please note that customers cannot schedule
appointments until after they have received the
scheduling request letter in the mail.
• City meter installers will arrive within one hour of
your scheduled appointment time. The installers will
carry IDs and drive clearly marked vehicles.
• A person over 18 must be present at the time of
installation.
The City is pleased to inform customers that the Neptune
brand meters and registers that are being installed are
100% USA manufactured and are a lead-free design. The
completed meter replacement project will provide
significant benefit and enhanced service to Moline’s
water customers. Additional information on this project
will be provided in future new releases. The City of
Moline appreciates the cooperation and patience of its
customers during the course of this monumental project.
