The City of Moline wishes to advise residents that the
leaf vacuuming service has officially concluded for the
season.
Moline's yard waste program will begin on Tuesday, April
1, 2008. At that time, leaves and yard waste may be placed in a
biodegradable trash bag and set out on the normal
scheduled garbage collection day with an approved City
of Moline sticker. Stickers are available for $1.50 at
many grocery and hardware stores in Moline, as well as
the City Hall East Annex, 1616 - 6th Avenue and Public
Works, 3635 - 4th Avenue.
Moline residents may also burn dry leaves on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Saturdays
during daylight hours, providing atmospheric conditions
permit. Atmospheric conditions means that burning is
prohibited anytime the wind speed exceeds 15 mph.
Additional criteria must be considered before burning:
All burning shall take place between sunrise and
sunset ONLY! (there are exceptions made for recreational
type fires such as wiener roasts but they must meet all
other criteria!)
All fires must be a MINIMUM of 25 feet from any
structure.
All fires MUST have a charged hose available and be
attended at ALL times.
Burning is prohibited during rainy or drought
conditions.
All materials being burned must be dry and burn
cleanly.
Permitted materials allowed to be burned are: lawn and
leaf refuse, twigs, and small sticks. THAT IS ALL.
Materials NOT permitted include but are not limited
to: any construction materials, garbage or refuse,
furniture, standing structures, tree piles, etc.
For questions regarding permitted items to be burned or
if residents are unsure if it is safe to burn, they may
call the Fire Administrative office at (309) 797-0416,
Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, or 797-0422 after
hours and on weekends.
