Moline’s Riverside Lagoon Will Be Stocked with Trout

Posted 09/23/05

Area residents will soon enjoy trout fishing from Riverside Park Lagoon, 2900 – 5th Avenue, Moline. The Moline Park department announces that Riverside Lagoon will be stocked with trout as part of the State of Illinois’s annual fall catchable trout program. Trout season begins at 5 am on October 15, 2005.

Each year, trout are normally stocked in the pond at Prospect Park. Due to the construction of the new fitness/nature trails, 18 hole disc golf course and other park improvements, the entire 25 acres of Prospect Park and the pond are currently closed. Prospect Park will reopen in the spring of 2006.

To take trout legally beginning October 15, anglers must have a fishing license and an inland trout stamp, unless they are under 16 years of age, blind or disabled, or an Illinois resident on leave from the Armed Forces. The catch limit for each angler is five trout per day.
