Motor Patrol
ImplementationMotor Unit
The Moline Police Department implemented the Motor Patrol Unit in 1996. The fleet began with one motorcycle, and grew to three in 2000. All are leased for a two-year period. The color scheme of the motorcycles is black and white to match the squad cars.

In addition to conducting enforcement duties, the motor officers are assigned to special details, such as leading dignitary processions, being present at events and festivals, and conducting traffic control. The motorcycles offer the versatility of being able to manipulate through difficult traffic situations.

The department's motor officers undergo extensive training and are specially equipped to operate the three Harley Davidson motorcycles on patrol. Two sergeants and three officers staff the Motor Patrol Unit.
