Floreciente District Substation
One of Moline’s oldest neighborhoods is the Floreciente District. Since 1994, the Police Department has had a community oriented policing (COP) substation in the neighborhood that is staffed by two full-time police officers. In addition to the COP officers, residents and other groups, including the Girl Scouts, regularly utilize the facility for meetings and / or events.

COP Officers
Assigned officers Eddie Alaniz and Jason Smith work closely with the residents in the area and remain actively involved with the students and staff at Ericsson Grade School. They are frequent visitors at the Boys and Girls Club and participate in the many events held in the district. They also serve as an integral part of the street gang suppression and graffiti eradication initiatives.

Events & Activities
Throughout the year, the COP officers coordinate and participate in numerous events and activities for the residents of the Floreciente District:
  • Earth Day clean-up
  • Field trips
  • Holiday events
  • Job shadow program
  • Neighborhood community meetings
  • Teacher appreciation
  • Youth participation in basketball, wrestling, and soccer
